Friday Random Ten the thirteenth: the “Red Sox Fever” edition
Well, before I head off to Citizen’s Bank Park for tonight’s game—which I have every faith will take place, mind you, although I have some expectation of a brief rain delay along the way—I must work my way through another Friday in the office. Which, happily, also means I get to work my way through another Friday Random Ten.
If you want to join in the fun, here’s all you have to do. Take iPod (or alternate mp3-playing device). Set on shuffle (if it isn’t there already). List the first ten songs that play (or eleven if you do the almost-obligatory “Bonus” track). Accept praise and/or gentle mockery for whatever facets of your musical taste are rveealed by this crystal ball.
So without further ado, let us spin the wheel on Frankenpod:
- The Beatles; What You’re Doing (Beatles for Sale)
- Michael Stanley Band; Just a Little Bit Longer (MSB)
- Cowboy Troy f. Big & Rich; I Play Chicken with the Train (Loco Motive)
- Kylie Minogue; Cruise Control (Body Language)
- Ernie; I Don’t Want to Live On the Moon (Sesame Street Platinum)
- Dread Zeppelin; When the Levee Breaks (5,000,000*)
- The Beatles; For No One (Revolver)
- Smash Mouth; Waste (Astro Lounge)
- Gwen Stefani; Serious (Love Angel Music Baby)
- The Jayhawks; Save It for a Rainy Day (Rainy Day Music)
- BONUS: Sugar Ray; Someday (14:59)
Answered Prayers: The Beatles showed up!! (None of the Elvis tracks I loaded, though, so maybe there’s something to that “Beatles and Elvis don’t mix” kerfuffle)
No, that’s not a typo: Read more about Dread Zeppelin here.
Worst song/album title contrast: I’m rapping about a train, and, like, the album’s another word for train, but it’s also a synonym for something crazy, like me being a black rapping cowboy. Get it? Yup. Got it. Just don’t want it.
And now, the rapid fire round.
Seen live: Jayhawks. Favorite song: Save it for a Rainy Day. Least favorite song: the train one. Best nostalgia: Ernie. (Duh!)
And now it’s back to the annual alphabetic CD crawl. First up: Dave Holland Quartet.
Other lists: Ashley; Ben; Brian; Ellen; Howard (with prizes! that I will never be clever enough to win!); Jackilyn; Luna; Matthew.

Have to agree with you on “Save It for a Rainy Day” as a favorite song, though I’m not familiar with three of the other songs on the list, and the Ernie number comes in a close second.
And you over-rate my trivia quiz. I don’t think clever was a prerequisite for winning (-I say with no intention of demeaning those who responded correctly).

having Ernie is ALMOST as good as having Kermit. Almost. My Kermit-love is too deep to budge from the Almost!
