Friday Random Ten the twelfth: the “I skipped last week on account of the allergic not-breathing thing” edition

So, after a week’s absence, I am back to the Internet in time for the Friday Random Ten: that viral phenomnenon where we all set our mp3 players on “shuffle”–as if we ever have it set any other way–and spit out the results.  Come on, folks, join in the fun, but don’t you dare omit your more embarrassing selections should they come up.  If I could survive the “Red Shoes every week” minifestival Frankenpod produced, you can survive revealing that you’ve got Anne Murray on your player….

Without further ado, my list:

  1. Stevie Wonder; You are the Sunshine of My Life (Song Review: Greatest Hits)
  2. Dave Matthews Band; I Did It (Everyday)
  3. Diana Krall; East of the Sun and West of the Moon (When I Look In Your Eyes)
  4. 4. Sting; She’s Too Good For Me (Ten Summoner’s Tales)
  5. Eric King and the Thin Line; Shake these Blues (Shake these Blues)
  6. Kate Bush; Wuthering Heights (The Whole Story)
  7. Diana Krall; I Remember You (The Look of Love)
  8. Michael Pitt; Nailed (Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack)
  9. Rollins Band; One Shot (Nice)
  10. Janet Jackson; Go Deep (The Velvet Rope)
  11. OBLIGATORY BONUS TRACK: The Rutles; It’s Looking Good (eponymous)

FAVORITE SONG: “I Did It.”  This set was interesting, though, in that there weren’t any songs, really, that I have deep love for.  There’s a basic I like ‘em well enough kind of affection, but I’m used to having at least one Yippee, I love this song! moment in every FRT.

LEAST FAVORITE SONG: “You are the Sunshine.”  Sorry, Stevie, I have much love for many other of your songs, but this one has always felta bit on the treacley side for my tastes.

SEEN LIVE: DMB, Diana Krall.  Both summer shows in an outdoors venue (Tweeter and Mann, respectively).  Very different vibes from one another, as you might expect.

CD BABY BABY: Eric King.  It’s nice to have some small signs that I have some unique folks in my collection, and it’s not all trend-whore Columbia House Music Club caliber stuff.

SOUNDTRACK SANITY: For once, I actually saw the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch before I purchased the soundtrack.  Enjoy the moment, kids, ‘cos it won’t happen very often.

MOST EMBARRASSING: I’ve gone and loaded a ton of Beatles tracks onto Frankie, I swear I have.  But oh, you FRT, you continue to toy with me and my ever-compromised dignity by putting my Rutles collection on public display!!

I’ll try to do some links during my lunch hour.

For the record, I have no Anne Murray in my collection, which is to my credit. I also have no Rutles, which is to my shame.

    My [belated] list is up.
