Friday Random Ten, the third
Another TGIF, another TGFFRT*. You know the drill:
Set the iPod (or inferior MP3 device) on shuffle and reveal the first ten tracks that appear, without any editing or omissions, and likely with the customary bonus track that makes me wonder why we haven’t just started calling this the “Friday Random Eleven.” Let your musical taste (or the lack of same) be revealed in all its quirky glory.
Today’s contributions from Frankenpod:
- Jane Monheit; Over the Rainbow; Come Dream with Me
- Tal Bachman; Strong Enough; (eponymous)
- Tori Amos; I Don’t Like Mondays; Strange Little Girls
- Janet Jackson (f. Missy Elliot and Carly Simon); Son of a Gun; All For You
- The Ataris; Song for a Mix Tape; End is Forever
- Santana; Corazon Espinado; Supernatural
- Ella Fitzgerald; Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall In Love); The Cole Porter Songbook
- The Muppet Show Theme
- Kelly Clarkson; Miss Independent; Thankful
- The Jayhawks; One Man’s Problem; Rainy Day Music
- David Bowie; I’m Waiting for the Man; Almost Famous soundtrack
Explanations and associations?
Alphabetic Coincidence: I just listed to Clarkson’s album yesterday as part of my 2006 Annual Alphabetic CD Crawl.
Seen Live: Jane and the Jayhawks. I’ve seen Jane four times: for two different holiday concerts in the Kimmel (Valentine’s Day 2004 and Christmas 2005), a concert across the river in Jersey (January 2005), and Matt & I even followed her as far as Connecticut to see her in September 2005 (conveniently enough, the venue is 7 miles from my sister’s house, so we got to make a nice family weekend of it). I say the Jayhawks at the Keswick back in Spring 2004. The Jayhawks concert and the CT Jane show were marked by something that happens to ma a lot–opening acts who I’ve never heard of before and who I absolutely fall in love with. With the Jayhwaks, it was Josh Rouse; with Jane, it was Joshua Payne.
Favorite Album: 3-way tie with Tori, Jane, and the Jayhawks.
Most Random Autobiographical Association: Ataris, Song for a Mix Tape.
Bonus-Revealed Addiction: David Bowie on the Almost Famous soundtrack. I have an unhealthy number of soundtrack and show albums in my CD collection. I even have soundtracks stemming from movies I’ve never ever seen.
* Thank God/s/ess/lessness For the Friday Random Ten.
