Buried Wisdom
Tuesday, February 28th, 2006Matt and I made a pact at the end of January: we’d pick a room per month and concentrate on getting that one room cleaned up and betetr-organized. Well, February nearly came and went before we remembered that promise to ourselves, so I spent part of this last weekend attacking the mess of stuff in our computer room, a.k.a. the back (guest) bedroom, a.k.a. laundry-folding central.
The cleaning of the computer room had some level of success. Admittedly, less success than I’d prefer, and at a higher cost in stress and tears than I wish to repeat in future months and future rooms. All those details are a story for another telling.
Instead, let me capture the spirit of this endeavor for you with one small detail…
Ages ago, I posted about beginning to read a book about home organization, decluttering, all of those domestic skills I so desperately lack. That book then became buried under a pile of crap, neglected and forgotten until I unearthed it during Sunday’s cleaning session.
If that ain’t symbolic, I don’t know what is.
